Fourteen years ago, a 6th grader named Carly decided it might be fun to spend her Saturday afternoon at a wedding assisting her father as he photographed. “I was instantly hooked and starting going to weddings with my dad as often as possible,” Carly says. Two years later, she was a staff photographer for Daniel Photography in Costa Mesa, a 37 year, family owned business. In 1995, The Daily Pilot newspaper referred to Carly as being “better than most professional photographers.”
After photographing at Daniel Photography for 6 years, and covering nearly 600 weddings, Carly graduated from Chapman University and is now running her own business. She offers a unique approach to wedding photography: pay the photographer an hourly rate, with the option to add services such as online viewing and ordering for your guests, engagement session, and albums. The hourly rate includes a disc of all the high resolution images, copyrighted to you, which is practically unheard of in the wedding photography business. You also receive 50 free 4x6 prints for every hour of coverage. Don’t regret purchasing a “package plan” that is structured to ensure that you return to the photographer after the wedding and spend more money on expensive reprints.
Having witnessed the evolution of wedding photography styles from traditional to the current photojournalistic approach, Carly sees the importance of having both. “I love that I have the privilege of creating images that will forever remind my clients of exactly how they felt on the most important day of their life.”
